The Journey

It’s been 2 years since I wrote the rough draft of The Bleeding Heart. Two years of twisting my heart and soul, pouring the voices from my head into the dark world of Brooklyn. Taking her words and mashing them together with Daniel’s had me playing the referee most days. Some days it was easy to take the light from Daniel and add in Brooklyn’s darkness. Other days, the only color I could see was grey.

Writing this piece was a test of endurance, one I can finally see light at the end of the tunnel. I have written and rewritten lines, making them sing with tension (at least I hope that’s the feeling you get). I even went so far to take a young adult (YA) story and aged it to become a new adult (NA) title. Therein lies some extra humanity and connection between Brooklyn and Daniel.

Now it’s almost time to share TBH with readers; to let Brooklyn show you her demons. Don’t worry, Daniel will be there to smooth the waters and hold your hand through the rough spots. He held my hand a time or two. Always these characters are with me, Brooklyn especially. Her words no longer crowd my thoughts, and as difficult as they were to write…I kinda miss her.

On April 27th, The Bleeding Heart will have a cover. There’s nothing more real than this and I’d love to include you in the celebration. If you’d like to join me, you can sign up here:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19vNQ9x2QC-r9jRZyq-4R3J-XTjAI6-ktoWjS-PDuJEA/viewform
